Obsermet Hydro
Water management on a higher level
OBSERMET is a well-known name within water related authorities, institutes and companies. The product-line consists of several sensors and a multifunctional flexible data logger line. Further Observator represents several high quality Manufactures which have already an established name within the hydrological field.
Automation of water management objects
| Using a combination of OBSERMET products several water management objects such as, weirs, pumping stations and inlet stations can be automated. Within the Netherlands round and about 250 of these object are equipped with OBSERMET products. Since the OBSERMET data loggers can be used within an open telemetric system, measured information can easily be downloaded into all kind of software systems. A standard weir is automated using two water level sensors, a weir position transmitter and a combined data logger/PLC OMC-2650. Using this data logger/PLC also lager and complex objects can be controlled. | ![]() |
Discharge measurement
|
|
With the abovementioned controllable weirs discharge is calculated and controlled. When no control is necessary a fixed weir can be used for discharge measurement. However is some cases weirs are not desirable or possible. In these situations we use the SonTek Argonaut AD(C)P solutions. These compact, easy to install and maintenance free ADC(C)P’s are available in several executions and frequencies. The side looking versions, SL’s, available in 500 kHz and 1,5 MHz are nowadays supplied with a third beam for stage measurements. The current and bottom profile can be programmed into these sensors to get an accurate discharge figure. The SW was designed for swallow waters and can also be used in pipes and gullies. Also in this sensor the geometry or profiles can be programmed to gain the best discharge. Also have a look on www.sontek.com |
Temporary discharge measurement
|
In order to measure the current and bottom profile Observator uses the SonTek RiverCat. This is a small, accurate AD(C)P mounted on a aluminium catamaran, battery powered, and a wireless radio link to shore. Weighing less than 25 lbs (12 kg), the RiverCat can easily be deployed as a tethered system from bridges or towed behind a small boat or even a kayak. |

Hydrological and Hydrometeorological networks
|
|
With her sensors and data loggers Observator is able of offering complete hydrological and hydrometeorological networks. Communication to the stations can be established using PSTN, GSM and GPRS modems. Using Observator’s software program ObserView it is possible to monitor and control a complete area on e.g. flooding. ObserView is available in several version depending on the amount of tags. ObserView comes for 15, 60, 1000 and an unlimited amount of tags. More viewers can be installed within a TCP/IP environment which means an additional viewer can be installed a view along through the Internet. |
Water quality sensors
| Water quality is getting more and more important within an integral water control plan. Parameters as dissolved oxygen; conductivity; temperature; pH and many others can be measured using an YSI multiparameter probe. This probe can be provided with an internal memory to store the measured information. Further it is possible to connect the probe to our hand held PC which can be provided with a GPS. With the OBSERMET data loggers it is possible to gather the measured information through a telemetric network. Further it is possible to sent an SMS or email in case extreme values are measured.
